Self Referral

Most referrals to other specialists will require you seeing or speaking with a GP. However, there are a number of local services, listed below, that you are able to make self referrals to.

Due to COVID-19, the opening hours and access to these services may differ from what is noted here. Please contact the individual services for more information on the current hours and access.

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

The Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Service helps people who have a problem with their pelvis or pelvic floor. This could be a bladder or bowel problem, prolapse, pelvic pain, pregnancy related pain or difficulties with sexual intercourse.

Sams Cafe

We work with people (aged 16 years plus and no longer in school education) across the whole spectrum of mental health and offer support for people who are experiencing suicidal thoughts. We offer support for family, carers and friends. The team at Sam's believe in being there for people in their community... in the afternoon and into evening time.

Sexual Health Fife

When you attend any Sexual Health Service in Fife you can expect to be listened to without being judged and for your treatment and care to be sensitive and confidential. All sexual health Fife services are free, including your prescription if needed.

Fife Alcohol Support Service is a leading provider of counselling and psychotherapy for people in Fife with alcohol-related problems. We help people deal with addiction, excessive regular drinking and binge drinking. Our other projects include the Community Drug Service which offers outreach support in the community for people with drug-related problems.

Solihull Online Courses for parents/carers

The Scottish Government has negotiated access to Solihull Online. These are courses which help nurture a a caring and supportive relationship by carers and help understanding of the stages of a child's development from pregnancy through to 19 years through interactive activities. Courses available are; Understanding pregnancy, labour, birth and your baby, understanding your baby, understanding your child. understanding your teenager's brain. Forensic Medical Services (Victims of Sexual Offences) (Scotland) Act 2021

This new Act establishes a legal framework for consistent access to “self-referral” where a victim (over 16 years of age) can access healthcare and request a Forensic Medical Examination (FME) without first having to make a report to the police. In addition, and as part of a person centred approach, individuals will be able to request the sex of their examiner involved in their care.

Breathing Space – Feeling Low, Anxious or Stressed?

Breathing Space was launched in 2002 to address serious concerns about the mental wellbeing of people in Scotland. The service became a national phone line in 2004. Breathing Space complements the work of other phone lines and agencies which are endeavouring to reduce suicide rates in Scotland.

If you’re elderly, disabled or have a long term health condition and want help to live safely and independently in your home, using equipment, technology or making adaptations to your home may be a good option for you. This could include: getting equipment, like shower rails, adapting your home by installing a ramp or widening the doors, using everyday technology like computers or tablets to keep in touch with friends and family, or do your shopping online. Arranging or changing your DRS (Diabetic retinopathy screening) appointment

Most health boards have a diabetic retinopathy screening (DRS) service that can arrange appointments and answer any questions or problems you might have. When you receive your DRS invitation letter you might need to contact your local service to arrange a time to have the test. You can also ask for a new appointment if you fail to, or can no longer, attend your appointment.
